Equality impact assessments (EqIAs)

We use equality impact assessments (EqIAs) to assess the impact of:

  • changing a service, policy, strategy or plan
  • contracting new services
  • planning projects
It involves:
  • anticipating the effects of policies and services on particular groups such as service users, residents, the wider population and employees
  • eliminating or minimising any negative consequences as far as possible
  • maximising opportunities to promote equality and diversity

EqIAs help us find and remove barriers that might stop people from knowing about services, using them and getting the best from them.
