Shortly after you become 16 you will be introduced to a Personal Adviser. They will work alongside your Social Worker before you are 18, to support you and help you to prepare for being an adult. They would like to meet with you at least every 8 weeks to get to know you, catch up and help you with your future plans.  You can also keep in touch with your Personal Adviser by email, phone, on WhatsApp or via the Mind Of My Own app.

As a young adult you can make your own decisions and choices. Your Personal Adviser is there to support and advise you along the way. They will help you make the best decisions that will work for you.

Your Personal Adviser can help you with lots of things which could include:

  • your money
  • where you live
  • your health

They will be able to support you with practical tasks too, like buying furniture for a new home. They can also put you in touch with other people who can help.

Your Personal Adviser will work with you until you are at least 21 years of age. They can work with you up until you are 25 if you choose.
