You have a right to see the personal information we hold about you. This includes the records written about you when you were in care.

If you would like to enquire about accessing your personal information, please speak to your Personal Adviser. They can support you to make a Subject Access Request (SAR).

Your Personal Adviser can also help you to make sense of your care story. If there is a specific date or event that you want to know more about, your Personal Adviser can summarise the information contained on your records and give this to you, outside of the SAR process.

This may help you find the information, that is valuable to you, more quickly.

We know that it can be hard to look back at your care story. We want you to be supported to talk about the information with your support network.

This might be your:

  • Personal Adviser
  • key adults
  • friends
  • advocate
  • mentor

We can also get you extra support through the Rees Foundation to guide and support you when you receive your records. If you feel that you need this support, please speak to your Personal Adviser.
