Dorset Library Service booking conditions for reading group membership. There's an annual subscription charge of £50 per reading group per year.
Read the booking conditions for reading groups with Dorset Libraries:
- by placing an order for reading group sets, you are agreeing to pay the £50 annual reading group subscription charge
- reading groups using a group card may only request titles from the current reading groups list
- the reading group list will be updated annually and copies will be available in libraries and online
- a minimum of one calendar month's notice is required to process a request
- a Reading Group year runs from 1 July until 30 June. You can request titles during the current calendar year. Orders for the current reading group list can be placed until December. You can order books from the newly updated list from March.
- requests may be made using the online form, or by printing a copy and returning it to the library
- all requests must include the group name, library card number and a collection date
- groups can borrow up to 12 sets of books per year
- each reading group set consists of 10 copies of standard print books and all 10 copies will be issued but unwanted copies can be returned when the set is collected. If additional copies are required, they should be requested by individual members on their personal tickets
- reading group sets must be returned to a Dorset library
- the reading group card can only be used to borrow a reading group set; large print, audiobook or DVD versions can be requested and borrowed on a personal ticket
- each reading group set is loaned to the group for 8 weeks; it is not possible to renew them. Normal overdue costs apply to individual books
- the designated group contact is responsible for items on loan; if one or more books are lost or damaged the group will be charged for new copies
- Dorset Libraries will make every effort to supply requested titles from the list but cannot guarantee they will be available
- if we cannot supply your choice, we reserve the right to supply an alternative title
- we welcome suggestions for titles to includes as sets, with purchases subject to the Collection Development Policy and budget considerations
