Lou is a Content Designer in our Digital team. Here's why Lou loves working in Content Design.
"Last year I was looking for a new challenge and saw a Content Designer role on the jobs page. During my time in the library service I did some web editing (with the support of the content team) and thought it looked like a job I could continue to make a difference with.
Coming into the role was exciting and scary all at once – there was so much to learn about the systems we use, and the processes and guidance we follow, but the team were fantastic with supporting me and I loved being a part of something which could make a difference to so many people.
I have spent my life in job roles which put others first, so being a content designer seemed like a natural step for me to make. I am constantly thinking what is best for the customer, and how I can make their lives easier.
Making information accessible is a huge part of what we do – we constantly think how to ensure everyone has equal access to the information we have on the website. We also help services with writing letters, sending emails, and much more. Sometimes this can mean difficult conversations – but we are advocates for our customers, and so we will work with services to help them understand how best to use their information.
In my first six months in the team I have learned so much about content and the way people behave when accessing information, and I am lucky to be surrounded by experienced and talented people who provide advice, guidance, and support to me on a daily basis.
The Digital team is a great team to be a part of, and I really do think I have the best job in the council!"
