3,000 visitors enjoyed this exhibition programme, which was given the name Beneath the Waves.

The exhibition was successful in making people more aware of the Lyme Bay Marine Conservation Area and of the need for marine protection generally.

We involved local fishermen, past and present, and it was good to get their expert knowledge and buy-in.

We obtained a lot of advice and technical information from a marine charity.

Underwater photographers and research scientists kindly allowed us to use their images for free.

The project worked particularly well in that it brought together these facets and the skills of artists to engage a range of audiences, for example, children and young people, young parents, adults, and older people.

Two artists and a musician were commissioned to deliver children activities.

The exhibition was designed so that it was accessible and largely viewable by wheelchair users. Text was sized to be easily readable.

Visit the West Bay Discovery Centre website for more information on this project.
