Project: To enable the club which provides for 17 to 18 year olds to purchase football equipment and kit for training and matchdays, mandatory training costs, safeguarding and welfare, and first aid equipment.
Grant: £1,000
Area of benefit: Bridport
Symene Football Club has been set up to provide young people aged 17 to 18 the opportunity to train, develop and play in the Dorset Football League with a view to continuing into adult football.
The grant allowed the organisation to buy equipment needed to set the club up and they created a football club within the local community which began with an under 18s team which then went into adult's football.
The team trains once a week and plays matches once a week. We have sustained players and grown in numbers and all players are local to Bridport. The team have recently been promoted to Division 4 in the Dorset football League and continue to play great football with real team spirit.
The club is well known locally for having a great team spirit, on and off the pitch and this has attracted new players and attracted players back into football.
We currently have approximately 25 players signed onto the team, further players who train as well as many friends/families involved on match days.
