Project: Radio Wimborne Youth Project

Grant: £2,000

Area of benefit: Wimborne

Radio Wimborne engaged 15 young people and gave them the opportunity to understand local community radio, have training on technical equipment and software and to be able to practice interviewing and presenting on air. Six Radio Wimborne Volunteers worked with three schools including Beaucroft School for children and young people with SEN.

Through this project Radio Wimborne have increased their volunteers by a third with many of the students with SEN involved.

Quotes:

“Thank you so, so much for this morning. What a great morning! We had the best time. Can’t thank you enough for your time and kindness and all our goodies… The students were absolutely buzzing for the rest of the day and were proudly showing off their T Shirts and folders to all their friends and teachers. Moving forward are we ok to come to you with a regular group … then we can bring a group of two or three on a Tuesday morning …and rotate the students so they all get a go.” Annie Cheer, Beaucroft.
