Impact 

Community engagement

The project connected schools and communities in North Dorset through Folk Music, enhancing awareness of local heritage and the environment. 

Educational benefits

Pupils developed focus, creativity, and memorization skills. Positive feedback was received from schools, parents, and participants. 

Disabled access 

Accessibility improvements

A ramp was installed at the music school to accommodate wheelchair users. 

Inclusive participation

The project included pupils with disabilities and participants with mental health concerns.

Approximately 1,912 people benefitted, including

  • 1,200 school children 
  • 500 audience members at Folk evenings 
  • 200 participants in Folk on the Move 
  • 12 senior school pupils in Fiddles and Whistles

Folk songs and storytelling sessions were conducted in schools, with performances by pupils.

Music themed walks celebrating the landscape. 

Night Folk

Evening music sessions at the music school. 

Fiddles and Whistles

Instrumental sessions for senior school pupils.
