Getting ready to share Dorset's local nature recovery strategy for consultation
In January 2025 we presented the draft Dorset Local Nature Recovery Strategy to Dorset Council's overview committee, alongside other updates on Dorset Council's efforts to tackle the climate and nature crisis.
The committee gave us approval to start the formal pre-consultation approval period with BCP Council and Natural England in February and have since been working with them to make any last edits to the draft strategy before others can have their say.
We are looking forward to sharing the draft strategy with more people as we launch the public consultation in late April/early May. This will be publicised on our webpages, social media and newsletters and we'll be out and about at some events and drop-ins through the Spring and Summer.
Defra farming blog
Defra shared a farming blog in February to explain local nature recovery strategies for farmers and landowners. It highlights that many farmers and landowners are already delivering nature recovery through their farming practices and are already helping to achieve the priorities in their area's local nature recovery strategy.
In Dorset, we have created further information for farmers, landowners and land managers outlining what the strategy means for farmers, landowners and land managers from questions we have received.
