Portrait of Jess Brodrick

I Joined Dorset Council in February 2023 and moved the family to Weymouth for a life at the seaside.

We have kept our sailing boat here for a long time, so have spent our weekends enjoying Weymouth Bay, the Jurassic Coast and beyond.

I love working in Organisational Development (OD) as it provides such breadth – working alongside individuals, teams, and the organisation as a whole.

My current role is supporting the development of our new People and Culture Strategy, and helping our organisation become a great place to work. We aim to attract, value, utilise and nurture our people and grow our capacity and capability to deliver our outcomes for our communities.

I was attracted to make the move to our OD service when I saw the structure. To have a function which integrates employee wellbeing with employee experience and engagement, learning and development and apprenticeships and work-based learning makes good sense and is important in building a work culture that supports our people to thrive and be their best.

When I’m not at work you’ll likely see me out running, playing netball or on the water. Since moving to Dorset, I’ve been learning to wing foil and making the most of living so close to the incredible Portland Harbour with all the great water sports opportunities it offers!
