As the Principal Social Worker for children’s services, I want to welcome you to Dorset and thank you for thinking about coming to work with us. My mission is to be the voice of our children’s workforce and to hear what you need, to achieve your goals and to be the best advocates for our families. I aim to deliver on our workforce development strategy and our learning and development plan.

Working with children, young people and their families is one of the most important and rewarding jobs. The right person can make the biggest difference to their lives. This person could be you.

We want Dorset to be the best place to be a child; where communities thrive, and children and families are happy and able to be the best they can be. We want to welcome and support you to be part of this. We are in a privileged position in being able to positively impact the lives of our Dorset children.

Our approach is to be:

  • collaborative - we want to work with our communities, not do things for or to them
  • strength based - we work with people, building relationships and resilience by focusing on strengths not problems and preservation of family and community
  • restorative - we want to stop harm and repair relationships

We want to be your employer of choice and to achieve this by:

  • being an inclusive workplace
  • developing our people
  • engaging our people
  • supporting our people
  • rewarding and recognising performance
  • creating a positive workplace culture

We will support you to be able to carry out your role effectively; by having effective onboarding and a robust induction programme, high quality management and supervision and a clear pathway to developing your skills and your career with us.

Please contact me directly if you have any questions or just want to talk about our practice, how we deliver our service or about specific opportunities.

I look forward to meeting you!
