It is sometimes hard to take a break, however, it is important to look after yourself when you are caring for others. There are many ways to help you take some time away from your caring role, like doing something you enjoy such as:

  • starting a new hobby or sport
  • spending time with people important to you
  • meeting others at peer support groups
  • taking a walk
  • having a break away

Respite and overnight stays away

If you want to access respite you will need an assessment.  Some services are chargeable and require the person you care for to have their own Care Act assessment.
