Who is eligible

'Eligible disabled' means you:

  • are blind or partially sighted
  • are profoundly or severely deaf
  • are without speech
  • have a disability, or have suffered an injury, which has a substantial and long-term effect on your ability to walk
  • don't have arms or have long-term loss of the use of both arms
  • have a learning disability
  • are a member or Veteran of the Armed Services who has been seriously injured in service

You're also eligible disabled if your application for a driving licence would be refused under section 92 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (physical fitness). However, you won't be eligible if you were refused because of persistent misuse of drugs or alcohol.

Renew your pass

We will write to you if you need to supply new evidence to renew your bus pass. If you don't hear from us and your circumstances have not changed you do not need to do anything. Your new pass will automatically be sent to you about a week before your old pass expires.

If your circumstances have changed before your pass expires, you can amend your address or photograph or provide up-to-date proof of your disability online.

You should do this around 60 days before your pass expires.
