A selection of routes to explore around the landscape that Thomas Hardy grew up in and was inspired by.
There are lots of paths to discover so we have selected a few for you to explore. Take a step back in time and follow the course of the ancient Roman Road or the route a young Thomas Hardy would have taken to his favourite woodland playground.
Remember to stop off and visit the cottage Thomas Hardy was born and grew up in. It offers the chance to learn more about his life and works and is a must whilst in the area. End your visit with a nice drink and slice of cake in the Under the Greenwood Tree Café inside the Hardy's Birthplace Visitor Centre.
