A study has been carried out for East Dorset to analyse the potential for new retail floorspace in the settlements of Corfe Mullen and West Parley.
The Retail Study for Corfe Mullen and West Parley has been produced in order to establish the potential to locate a food store within the areas of Corfe Mullen and West Parley, should proposed new residential neighbourhoods be taken forward in these locations. The study includes a detailed analysis of the retail patterns within these areas and examines the new development scenarios to test whether:
- a food store could be supported in these local centres
- the size of the store that could be supported
- the most suitable location for a food store
- the likely impacts it will have on neighbouring centres
This study complements the 2008 Joint Retail Study which provided an assessment of the future needs for additional retail facilities in the main town and district centres of Christchurch, East Dorset, North Dorset and Purbeck.
East Dorset District Council commissioned consultants Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners (NLP) to carry out this study.
