Christchurch and East Dorset councils commissioned an open space, sport and recreation assessment. It determines the current standard and extent of provision of open space, sport and recreation facilities within the two authority areas. The results will help inform future planning policy.
Government's Planning Policy Guidance Note 17 requires local authorities to undertake assessments in order to:
- Identify the needs of the population
- Identify the potential for increased use
- Establish an effective strategy for open space/sports/recreational facilities at the local level
The report is available as a series of downloads. Section 1 includes the contents page and information on the document structure. Additionally, Local Needs Areas are available to download individually for specific areas in each of the Districts.
Christchurch and East Dorset Councils commissioned this assessment of open space, sport and recreation provision from open space consultants Inspace Ltd in 2006.
