Paying for adult social care
How much you might have to contribute towards the cost of your care
You might be eligible for financial help towards the cost of your social care if you have less than £23,250 in savings.
The process to find out how much you might have to pay towards your social care will start with a care needs assessment. This will show how much care you need. If you do require care, the next step may be a financial assessment. This is a means test which will work out how much you will have to contribute towards the cost of your care.
You can try our estimator first which will give you an idea of how much you might be expected to pay. The estimator doesn't replace our detailed financial assessment and is for your own personal use.
