Our foster carers share their fostering moments

Posted on:

We asked our foster carers what moments have defined their fostering journey. The big and small moments that make it all worth it.

The responses ranged from, ‘seeing the children laugh, smile and learn to trust you’, watching them grow in confidence and embrace new hobbies,’ to ‘seeing a young person enjoy their childhood, like every child deserves.’

For many of our carers, seeing children and young people be happy, and watching them go on to do well in life is often the biggest reward.

One of our foster carers shared that a young person who lived with his family for several years, has since gone on to do incredibly well for themselves – going to university, building a successful career. and going on to have a family of their own.

He said, “fostering is a rewarding job and seeing them do well is an absolute bonus. Knowing you’ve improved a child’s life outcomes and seeing them flourish and going beyond what people expect, makes it all worthwhile.”

Another of our foster carers said that ‘helping a child through a difficult time in their life and then going on to see them settle back home, or with a new family’ was their biggest fostering moment.
