New funding opportunities for local community groups

If you’re looking to kickstart a new project that will make a difference for people in your community, Round 9 of the Community and Culture Project Fund is now open for applications.
The grants, which are managed by Dorset Council, welcome applications for projects and events for community, arts, accredited museums, heritage, sport, youth, play and physical activity.
This fund offers small grants ranging from £1,500 to £5,000 to support organisations who want to start new activities or events that make a real difference to the lives of Dorset residents, especially those who are marginalised or disadvantaged. The application period closes on Thursday, 5 June 2025.
Applicants must provide a minimum of 20% of their total project costs and demonstrate how their projects will make an impact in their communities. For details on eligibility and how to apply, visit the website at Community and Culture Project Fund Round 9.
Dorset Council is also offering the Small Capital Grants Fund for organisations or groups needing funding to improve, adapt, or refurbish community spaces, village play areas, sports pitches, local greenspaces, arts, or museum venues.
This fund provides one-off grants between £5,000 and £15,000 to enhance facilities that contribute to a better environment for Dorset residents and improve amenities in towns and villages.
The grant closes on Thursday, 5 June 2025. To apply, projects must be based in the Dorset Council area and secure a minimum of 20% towards their total project costs. Dorset Council will fund up to 80% of capital costs, up to a maximum of £15,000. Successful projects must be completed by the end of February 2026.
