General Election results declared in Dorset

The results of the general election in Dorset’s five constituencies have been confirmed.

The results are as follows:

  • South Dorset – Lloyd Hatton, Labour (gain)
  • West Dorset – Edward Morello, Liberal Democrat (gain)
  • North Dorset – Simon Hoare, Conservative (hold)
  • Mid Dorset & North Poole – Vikki Slade, Liberal Democrat (gain)
  • Christchurch – Christopher Chope, Conservative (hold)

The overall turnout was 70.1% (53,228 ballots from electorate of 75,959)

For this election our Election Team have processed applications for 783 overseas electors, 9880 postal votes and 2094 proxy votes. In the week leading up to the deadline to register to vote, the team processed 4676 new applications.

Dorset Council would like to thank everyone who has supported the smooth running of this election over the last six weeks. It's been a huge task, and everyone involved has worked incredibly hard to deliver another successful election in Dorset.
