Each year we recruit Apprentice Rangers across Dorset. These positions vary in the type of countryside management work you can get involved with, but all are involved with nature reserve, rights of way and highway verge management along with working in our Country Parks and with the public.
Each post is based within a team which consists of friendly, very experienced people covering a range of innovative countryside projects. These posts offer a unique opportunity for anyone wishing to start a career in countryside management.
The Ranger Service
Each Apprentice Ranger works under the supervision of a Countryside Ranger and their team members. Posts will have the opportunity to spend time with other sections of the Ranger Service, for example at a country park.
The Ranger Service is divided into 5 areas:
- North Dorset based in Blandford Forum
- East Dorset based from Avon Heath Country Park
- Purbeck based in Durlston Country Park and Wareham
- Central Dorset based in Dorchester
- West and Coast, based in Dorchester
