The Housing Strategy was approved by Full Council on the 14 December 2023. We are now developing a plan to deliver the aims and objectives. Our vision is to ensure our residents have access to affordable, suitable, secure homes where they can live well and be part of sustainable and thriving communities.
Portfolio Holder for Housing, Adult Social Care and Health Councillor Jane Somper said, “This is a positive and outward looking strategy which will be supported by strong delivery plan.
It builds on our existing strategies and reflects Dorset Council as an ambitious, enabling housing authority. It is an optimistic and broad, evolving document, not only because at it’s about the people of Dorset but also in recognition of the varied and ongoing challenges and changes that require us to be nimble, empathetic, and effective.
This high-level strategic approach supports our vison of affordable, suitable, secure homes where our residents can live and thrive as part of sustainable and thriving communities.
We had to be bold and forthright in our thinking and recognise we had to do this collaboratively. We can now look forward to sharing this more widely with our residents and partners as this is a strategy for all.”
We will work with our partner organisations and our residents to deliver the plan.
We will keep you updated here with opportunities to take part and other helpful information. Progress will be monitored, and regular information will be shared.
Thank you for your interest.
