Dorchester Article 4 Direction
The Article 4 Direction is limited to
any gate, fence, wall or other means of enclosure adjacent to a
highway or open space and covers properties in
a number of areas of the
town. This means that for any future work, it may now be necessary
to apply for planning permission.
An information leaflet gives general guidance on the Direction and

& Answers.
The Direction started on 10 June 2020 when the Council gave notice of
the Article 4 Direction by way of advertisement
in the Dorset Echo and by a number of site notices.

County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester Dorset DT1 1XJ during office

Conservation
areas - West Dorset
Following public consultation and within six months of the start
date, the council will decide whether to confirm the Article 4
Direction. Information on the decision will be available on the
council’s website at your-council/consultations/find-a-consultation
Under Data Protection, comment received will be used to inform a
decision on the Article 4 Direction only and will be in accordance
with the Planning privacy notice.
