Our household recycling centres are operated by W&S Waste Management Ltd.
We use CCTV to monitor recycling centres. This is for the safety and security of customers and staff.
Using our household recycling centres
You must:
- follow instructions given by site staff
- make sure children remain in the vehicle
- make sure pets remain in the vehicle
- secure your load properly to avoid spillage and potential hazards
- check if you need a vehicle permit - certain vehicle types are not allowed to unload waste without a permit
- separate your waste at home and place it in the appropriate container on site to help us recycle
- allow site staff to inspect any waste brought onto the site. They can open sacks and containers if necessary and ask you where the waste came from.
You must not:
- smoke on site
- move barriers to access restricted areas
- swap or give items of waste from your vehicle to another user on site
- take items from site, unless you have bought them from the official reuse (sales) area. Waste becomes the property of the contractor who may recover any reusable or recyclable items.
- enter the site as a pedestrian, unless agreed with the site staff at their discretion
- enter the site in a van with a hire agreement of more than 3 days
- enter the site with a trailer bed size of more than 1.2 m x 1.8 m (approx. 6ft x 4ft), or if you are in a hire van or vehicle that requires a permit for towing
- dispose of business waste - this is illegal and carries a maximum penalty of £50,000, or up to 5 years imprisonment, or both
- verbally abuse or intimidate site staff or other visitors. Anyone displaying such behaviour will be told to leave the site and further action will be taken where necessary.
The site manager has the final decision on:
- chargeable materials and payment
- material being unloaded and deposited on site
