Warning Our Environmental Health and Housing Standards system is currently unavailable. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Dog breeders must be licensed by us if they:
- breed 3 or more litters a year, unless they can show that none of the puppies have been sold
- advertise dogs for sale and make more than £1,000 for the whole litter
If you think someone is breeding dogs illegally or running a puppy farm, or you have any concerns about the welfare of the dogs they’re breeding, report it to us.
We can check if they hold a licence with us and are complying with the law.
Before you start
You’ll need to provide:
- your name, email address or phone number so that we can contact you for more information
