Why is there a red tag on my bin?
The collection crew put a red tag on your bin or box because it contained a battery, an item containing a battery or an electrical item. These items cannot be collected at the kerbside, as they may cause fires when crushed in our collection vehicles.
If the crew spot batteries, items containing batteries (including vapes) or electrical items then they should leave the bin or box without emptying it.
If the crew notice that your container included these items after emptying it, they should place a tag on the empty container afterwards.
Why was my bin not emptied?
Batteries and electrical items are categorised as hazardous because they can cause fires and cannot be collected.
Bins or boxes containing hazardous items are not emptied.
What do I need to do?
