If you're under 25, the Space Youth Project supports gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning young people. You can talk to someone about sexuality and how to deal with it along with other support, such as safer sex advice. They can also offer you a chance to meet new people.
What Dorset youth advice and information centres can offer
Qualified staff offer young people free support and someone to talk to at the advice and information centres, including confidential advice on issues such as:
- health
- sexuality and relationships
- managing money
- travel
- study tips and dealing with exam pressure
- finding a job
- housing advice
Any young person can drop into a centre for free, unbiased advice, an informal chat, or to stay and have coffee with other young people.
You can also contact a centre beforehand to set up a one to one meeting in a private meeting room, or in an environment to suit you. Talking to someone who isn't a family member or friend could be the support you need.
Activities and facilities
As well as offering advice, there are lots of fun things to do at youth advice centres. Every centre offers different things, but they could include:
- coffee bars
- computer suites with internet access
- training schemes
- music studios
- pool tables
- chill-out areas to chat with friends
